In Loving Memory
Bryce Tate
2010 – November 6, 2025
Bryce was so much more than what happened to him.
He was a son, a friend, a teammate, and a young man with a strong faith and a big heart. Bryce grew up in Cross Lanes, West Virginia — loved basketball, lifting weights, making people laugh, and spending time with the people he loved.
He was an honor student, always smiling and joking, and someone his friends often turned to when they needed advice. Two study Bibles sat beside his bed — because his faith wasn't quiet. He was outward with it, and it shaped everything about how he lived and how he loved people.
Bryce had plans, goals, friendships, and an entire life ahead of him. At just 15 years old, he became the target of a financial sextortion scheme.
It happened in just 3 hours. Predators contacted him online, manipulated him into sharing an intimate image, and demanded $500. Bryce offered them his last $30. It wasn't enough. Over the next 20 minutes, they sent him 120 messages — threatening him, manufacturing a deadline, and telling him there was no way out. They murdered him through manipulation and terror.
Three hours. That's all it took for them to find him, manipulate him, terrorize him, and take him from us. He never had a chance to tell anyone. He never had a chance to ask for help.
Sextortion is a form of online exploitation where predators use images as leverage to demand money or more content. It happens fast. It happens to kids who are smart, loved, and surrounded by people who care about them. Bryce was all of those things. And it still happened to him.
We refuse to let the worst moment of Bryce's life define who he was. Today, his name carries a mission — to protect other children and families through awareness, education, and prevention. Every conversation started, every child educated, and every family protected allows Bryce's impact to continue.
A Life Well Lived
Who He Was
We refuse to let the worst moment of his life define who he was.
The Athlete
Bryce lived for basketball and the weight room. Whether it was pickup runs, organized tournaments, or early morning lifts, he was disciplined, driven, and always pushing to get better.
The Friend
He could walk into a room and change the energy. Always smiling, always joking — and someone his friends genuinely turned to when they needed real advice. People just felt better around him.
The Believer
Bryce's faith wasn't quiet — he was outward with it. Two study Bibles sat beside his bed. His relationship with God shaped how he treated people and how he carried himself every single day.
The Student
He was an honor student with plans, goals, and an entire future ahead of him. Bryce had the kind of character that made the people around him better — in the classroom, on the court, and everywhere in between.
Forever 15. Forever loved. Forever making a difference.
