Bryce Tate was a vibrant 15-year-old sophomore at Nitro High School in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. Known for his infectious smile, goofy personality, and kind heart, Bryce brought light to everyone around him. He was an honor roll student, a dedicated athlete who loved weightlifting, and an active leader in his Christian fellowship. To his parents, Adam and Amanda, he was their only child and their greatest joy. To his friends and classmates, he was the one who showed up, encouraged others, and made hard days easier.
On November 6, 2025, Bryce’s promising future was tragically cut short after he became the victim of an online sextortion scheme. What began as what seemed like a harmless conversation quickly turned into manipulation, threats, and overwhelming pressure from criminals who targeted his trust and vulnerability.
Bryce’s loss has devastated his family and shaken his community. His story is a heartbreaking reminder of the real dangers that can exist online and how quickly they can escalate. Today, his family shares his story to raise awareness, protect other children, and ensure that no other family has to endure such unimaginable pain.
In Bryce Tate’s memory, his story has become a powerful force in the fight against sextortion. What began as an unimaginable tragedy has grown into a movement of awareness, education, and legislative advocacy. Bryce’s story has been shared across regional and national news outlets, featured in publications, discussed on crime and public safety podcasts, and recognized within legislative settings—bringing urgent attention to the growing threat of online exploitation targeting teens. Through media coverage and public conversations, his life has helped expose how these schemes operate, who they target, and why stronger prevention and laws are necessary. Bryce’s legacy is not defined by the crime committed against him, but by the impact his story continues to have—sparking dialogue, influencing policy discussions, and equipping families with the knowledge needed to protect their children.
